I am a Goan. I was born and raised here in Goa, got my first job here, met and married the love of my life here, set up my business here. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to live anywhere else in the world.
I could go all Goa Tourism Board on you and list out the many reasons that make Goa a tourist paradise, but I doubt there are many of you that haven’t visited my home state. You know what makes Goa special:
Beautiful Beaches
All-you-can-eat fish
No words needed
Beautiful Beaches
A couple of weeks ago, my classmates at school decided to meet at a small boutique resort in Dona Paula for a class reunion – for some the first in almost three decades. You’d think that people who grew up in Goa would want to have a reunion anywhere but here, but a number of my classmates have settled in different parts of the world and for them, it was like a homecoming.
Prainha the resort we were at is situated on a small, private beach. The setting was perfect – lush lawns, private beach and the glorious winter sunset. The Goan sun in December has a mind of its own. The beach, the sea, coconut trees, the aromas of Goa and the setting sun all make a heady cocktail for some and paint a canvas for others.
I do not have the words to describe the fading light as the sun slowly made its imperial descent into the Arabian Sea. Maybe it was the company; maybe be it was the rush of nostalgia for my younger self. Whatever the reason, I couldn’t resist immortalizing the time I spent with my buddies that evening with these scapes. They will keep me going until our next reunion.
